Primrose Spring Bonnet Parade & Egg Hunt

Riley's school has an annual Spring Bonnet Parade where the children parade around the parking lot for the parents in their spring hats to celebrate the upcoming season. It was pretty cold this year, so they opted to have the parade inside the school.  Each class paraded down the hallway in their hats, and I was able to attend with GiGi and Grandpa. Riley certainly had a cheering section!

Riley loved the spring headband that he made. Daddy and Uncle John had their objections, but c'mon guys he's 2... and I must say, pretty adorable in that headband!! :)

Grandpa and GiGi came to school!!

Primrose also hosted an Easter egg hunt on the playground later in the week. Matt joined Riley for the festivities and ice cream treats. Daddy let him eat ALL of his candy from the eggs!  Lucky boy.

Home, Home on the Range!

We headed north to Raines Ranch last weekend, and had the most perfect day with good friends. Crystal's parents own an incredible ranch with over 200 acres of land, cows, bulls, llamas, horses, tractors, 4 wheelers, John Deeres, trucks... all of Riley's favorite things in life.  We had beautiful weather, and it was nice to visit with the adults in the evening while the kids ran wild! Thank you to the Hays and Raines families for having us for the day! Such a treat!

We started the day with a 4 wheeler tour of the ranch on

Matt was going to ride down the hill in the back of the "mule", little did we know he was being dumped out on the grass!

Our fam is ready to go! So is little miss Lila and Jared!

My "driver" took his job very seriously

Here are some of the cows we saw on our ride... they don't look too happy to see us, but we were happy to see them!

After the tour, we headed back to the house so that the kids could nap. Obviously, Riley was in no mood to nap so he got to play ball outside for awhile.

And, his Daddy pretended he was a true cowboy while sipping on a cold one.

Riley decided to borrow Lila's baby stroller while she was sleeping.  He had a ball pushing it around, although Matt kept encouraging him to go pick up the baseball again.

Riley finally went down to nap, and the adults headed down to do some horseback riding. Matt rode Princess, Adam rode Doc, and Hayley rode Emma. Adam had some impressive horseback riding skills, and showed them off to us.

Meanwhile, Princess was done with Matt and decided to lay down on the ground forcing him off her back.

Enjoying the day with my friends!

Love these two girls!

When the kiddos woke up we headed back down to the stables

We brought the vanilla wafers down so that they could feed the horses.  Riley fed Emma, and did a great job!

He thought it tickled when she took the wafer out of his hand!

The Dads and their kids

We love the ranch!

This BIG tractor was also pretty exciting!

The other exciting attraction was this big leaf blower in the stables

Sawyer even got to wear the contraption... with a little help from Adam.

My cowboy

Then it was time to re-saddle Emma so that the kids could do some riding. Riley helped get her ready by brushing her coat.

Riley and Sawyer were two brave boys, and decided to go for a ride

Check out those cowboy boots!

Possible concern in their eyes, but they loved it!

Jared and Adam stayed close to them for moral support

Then it was Lila and Maddie's turn

And then Crystal got to ride with her little girl - they laughed the whole way!

Then Jackson and his sister showed us how it was done!

The kids loved climbing and jumping on the hay bales... we should get a few of these for the garage... hours of entertainment!

We headed back to the house on the 4 wheelers for some R&R and dinner

The adults got to enjoy happy hour while the kids ran with their rocks and sticks... I love the country!

We all devoured our delicious dinner, especially Boom-Pa's brisket and GiGi's homemade potato salad. The kids worked up an appetite on the ranch!

Riley spilled some juice on his shirt, so it came off immediately

Lila had to follow suit, and they just giggled away. The kids all got along so well together, and we couldn't have asked for a better day at the ranch with our friends!

Special Delivery!

I ordered Riley an Easter Basket recently with an embroidered lining, and it came in a great big box.  I quickly ran to hide the basket before Riley saw it, and by the time I came back he was sitting INSIDE the box!
Side note: Styrofoam popcorn pieces do not stay in a box when a 2 year old is involved, and they are very hard to clean up! However, they do provide long periods of entertainment, so that dinner can be prepared. :)

Shrine Circus

We took Riley to the Shrine Circus last weekend, and it was such a fun day for our family! The circus came to an arena in Frisco, so it was nice and close. Riley was so behaved and paid attention through the entire show, and the whole experience lasted about 3 hours.

Riley started out the day with a camel ride. Notice the lack of restraints... I was praying that he'd stay on that camel and hold on tight!

Then we headed over to watch the elephants. He loved making the elephant sounds for the elephants!

Of course, we couldn't pass up a ride on an EIEIO! He picked out his own horse, and he was a sweet pony.

What a pro

Then it was time to head to our seats so that the show could start. He was all set with his bag of goldfish crackers and his toy lion...rawrr!!

The elephants started the show off with lots of excitement!

The tigers were a big hit with Riley. That is one brave tiger trainer!!

This elephant was amazing, look at him walking on that barrel!

Riley and Daddy liked the 5 motorcycles that rode around in the iron cage at the same time. Riley was a little scared at one point, but then told us after the show that the motorcycles were his favorite part...go figure!

When we got home, Riley took a nice long nap.  Gigi arrived with Barnum animal crackers just in time for him to wake up... in honor of his day at the circus! Thanks GiGi!

He had to show off the overpriced light saber that he got from the circus. Watch out, Toby!! :)
