Ozarks Lake Trip ~ 2012

We took a week off last week, and headed to the Ozarks with Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunty Lib (a.k.a. "Lala" according to Riley).  Unfortunately, Uncle Johnny couldn't come because he ended up having to work.  We had a very nice and relaxing trip! Riley did AMAZING in the car, and we had the most perfect log cabin "chalet" on the lake.  The resort had a beautiful pool, water slide, kayaks, paddle boats, zip line, playground, hot tubs, bikes, and we rented a boat.  The week flew by way too fast, and we can't wait to go back!

Riley got his first taste of fast food on the trip to the lake... Wendy's, Sonic, & McDonalds all in one day!  He loved his Wendy's Frosty. It reminded me of my Grandma and Grandpa Quincey, they loved them too!

Riley the trooper, eating his snacks in the car and watching the iPad. I don't know how my parents took long car trips with three little kids when we were young without an iPad!! I guess that's why we had a big tube TV strapped to a milk crate with bungee cords that constantly blew the car fuse :)

My parents stayed upstairs in the master suite, which we called the "tree house".  Riley loved visiting the tree house and playing in Grandma's suitcase.

We rented a nice pontoon boat, and took a few lake excursions.  Here are our two boat captains!

Riley loved beeping the horn!

He, however, was not so sure about swimming in the lake water. Table Rock Lake is so beautiful and clean!

We anchored the boat and swam to a little island.

Riley's favorite activity was throwing rocks into the water... forget swimming and boating! Give the kid a few pebbles and he is a happy camper.

Where's Grandma? Water walking in the background!

Hi Grandpa!

Riley loves his Grandpa

And his Auntie Lala

And especially his Dada

These two are too cute

Boat rides are exhausting, time for a nap

We also took a mini excursion to the local berry farm.  We got a few jams and blueberry muffins. They were also nice enough to make Riley a grilled cheese, so we ate lunch at the picnic tables. Could he be any more thrilled?!

Favorite thing at the farm... a TRACTOR! Time to inspect the machinery...

Off to the next farm implement...

We also spent lots of time by the amazing pool.  It was a salt water pool with water falls and a cool water slide. We all took turns going up and down the slide with Mr. Riley... he couldn't get enough!

We also did some exploring down by the lake shore, and got very muddy!  We ask Riley, how much do we love you? THIIIIS much he says!

Time to hose down this dirty boy!

Nighttime consisted of lots of snuggles with Aunty Lib.

And, of course some roasted marshmallows on the screened in porch.  We had an awesome wood fire place on the porch and a hot tub. What else could you ask for??

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for an amazing vacation! We all had a great time!

Jumping into August

We had a fun filled weekend in Frisco.
We, believe it or not, went to our neighborhood pools for the first time in 4 1/2 years of living here... and they are awesome! I can't believe it took us this long to get up there. They have 4 gorgeous pools with water slides, water falls, and the kiddie mushroom. We packed some lunches, and had a great time! We actually went back on Sunday, and Matt & I took turns taking Riley down the big water slide.

Fun in the sun

Swimming with Dada

Matt and I both wear glasses in the mornings and evenings when we aren't wearing our contacts.  Riley is always fascinated with our specs, so we decided to pop the lenses out of my old frames and give them to him so that he could be like us.  He liked them so much that he wore them around the rest of the day!

Looking so studious

Greeted Aunty Lib in his glasses when she came to babysit

Aunty Lib was sweet enough to babysit Riley on Saturday night so that Matt and I could enjoy a sushi date night.  Riley enjoyed his whip cream for dessert... Aunty Lib is so generous with the sprays!

We ended the weekend on Sunday night after another trip to the pool with a dance party in the family room.  Happy August, Everyone!
