Teach 'em young

We've decided it's time for Riley to start pulling his weight around the house. So, we put him to work on the weekends mowing the lawn and swiffering the floors. He also likes dusting with a rag and wiping down the kitchen table.  I wonder how long the excitement of household chores will last!? :)

Make sure those lines are straight, buddy!

Gotta check the grass clippings bag and adjust a few knobs, just like Daddy!

Swiffering the floor and grooving to some tunes, just like Mommy!

Watching TV with Daddy

It's football season, so you know what that means... lots of QT with Daddy cheering on our favorite teams!

This is the duo last year:

Who knew these were the same two studs?!

Riley also got to cheer on the skins with Uncle Johnny, YAY RGIII!

"Hold Hand"

Riley and Jamie have been friends since they were only a few months old, and I love that they are still good buddies.  We were walking into the building the other day, and Jamie runs over and says "Riley, hold hand" so, Riley does as he's told and they walked hand-in-hand all the way to their classroom.  The following day, we coincidentally were walking in at the same time again and Jamie immediately gives her breakfast to her mom and says "Riley, hold hand", and off they went again! I asked Jamie's mom if she likes holding peoples hands, and she said no... only Riley's. Just adorable!

Back in the day....

Saturday night...er...Sunday morning fun

When we got home from the Univ of Michigan game Riley started crying as we got into bed, so I went up to check on him and his eyes were swollen shut and glued together with green goop.  We took him to the ER at 1AM, and poor Matt (who was NOT the DD this particular night...) had just taken a Melatonin to sleep.  It was a scene reminiscent of George Banks on the way to the hospital in Father of the Bride 2... HA! Anyway, poor Riley had a terrible case of pink eye and a sinus infection. I took him to the doctor on Tuesday, and we kept him home for several days.  He got to go back to daycare on Thursday, but unfortunately I got called on Friday because he spiked a fever and we were back at the doctor Friday afternoon.  Matt and I also got a touch of his cold, so the three of us have been quite the trio.  Luckily, we are all finally feeling much better and next weekend we all hope to be healthy!

Cheering on the Hokies while we were holed up in the house!

One thing guaranteed to entertain Riley for hours despite his cabin fever is to let him watch the landscapers mow outside!

Poor baby, finally feeling better! Sad he had to skip his friend Sawyer's birthday party at Little Gym!

The Wollack's Come to TX!

Our good friends from Michigan, the Wollacks, came to Texas to visit.  It's been way too long since we've seen them, but we all immediately picked up where we left off and seems like nobody has changed one bit!  Riley and I stopped by my parents house where they were staying after work one night to swim in the pool and catch up, and then Saturday night was our big night at Texas Stadium to see the Michigan Wolverines play against Alabama! We were lucky enough that Mr. Sam Pack gave us his suite for the night, and we enjoyed the VIP parking, amazing suite, delicious food and drinks, and awesome views of the field. Unfortunately, U of M lost the game, but we got lots of QT with our good friends.

Beautiful night by the pool... keeping one eye on Riley who has no fear of the water anymore!

Got to spend some time with my siblings at the game!

And my hubby... this was our first time with a true babysitter.  Riley's teacher was supposed to babysit, but her appendix burst the day before so his other teacher was sweet enough to fill in for us last minute!

This one makes me laugh... Dad and his vino!

The girls

What did I say... these two have not changed one bit since their days playing soccer in Northville!

Goof balls

Lib and RE :)

We had a few of my Dad's Ford friends join us for awhile, so here is the whole "crew" (not to be mistaken for the legit "Suite Crashers" that we had to kick out!)

The view was perfect!

Little did we know that we'd have a fiasco evening after we got home.... another post to come!
