Mud Day ~ 2012

Today was International Mud Day, and Riley enthusiastically participated with his class.  I laughed as I watched him play through the window, and he loved every single second of getting dirty! The other kids weren't as keen on the idea, but Riley had an absolute ball.  I was wondering how he would due since Mud Day last year was not such a hit.  I guess we need to get ourselves a big pool of mud to keep him entertained!

That's Riley... bottom left hand corner... going head first into the pool of mud

And, that's a full cup of mud that he is dumping on his head. The other kids are wondering what in the world he is doing?

Taking a breather... what a mess!

Ok, break time is over, off to the mud pool again!

After another dip in the mud, it was time to clean off at the water table.  All of the other kids in the class steered clear of the mud and played at the water table.

The teachers got out the hose and hosed Riley down (which he loved too)... here's a tired guy about to head inside for snack. Obviously, he is in between sizes and his suit is a little weighed down at this point! Oh well!

So proud of our muddy boy for participating in Mud Day this year... such an animal! :)

15 Month Appt... At 16 Months of Age

We had Riley's "15 month Well Child Checkup" this month, even though he is already 16 months old.  They don't like to give immunizations when a child is sick, and since his ear infections were nonstop for 6 months the well child checkups kept getting pushed back.  Regardless, the doc says he looks great! He suggested that we start taking the paci away, which he still uses when he sleeps.  I am also still giving him a bottle twice a day, and I guess it's time to get rid of that too.  I knew that he would say that, but it's such special time when I am rocking him before bed and seems to soothe him when he's revved up or teething.  Riley is still extremely tall falling in the 98th percentile, and he's in the 50th percentile for weight.  He barely cried during his shots, and was such a good boy at the doctors office flirting with all the nurses.

Waiting patiently in the waiting room - hi mom!

When we got back to school Riley & I had a little picnic together. He ate every bit of his chicken, fruit, wheat pita bread, and black beans & corn!

Here are a few updates on our 16 month old ball of energy!
* Riley was not very talkative when his ears were full of fluid, but now that they're clear he's jabbering up a storm.  His favorite word is Dada, but he can also say Hi, Bye, Hola (yes, that's right! ha!), uh oh, cracker, tractor, gigi (meaning "Georgie" his monkey), "oooo, wowww" when something is impressive, and "AH" after every drink.
* Riley has also mastered brushing his teeth twice a day, saying grace/prayers before meals (this includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. He will sit there with his hands folded and look at us like... ahem, it's time to say grace guys), washing his hands and drying them, throwing things away in the trash can when asked, setting the table with placemats when asked, following simple instrubtions, clapping hands, giving high fives, blowing kisses, hitting balls with his golf clubs, and running everywhere at top speed.
* Riley is a very good sleeper, but has figured out how to climb out of his crib!!  We still like the idea of keeping him contained, but are considering the toddler bed move very soon.
* Four giant molars are coming through right now, and we are hoping they come all the way through sooner than later!
* Riley is a very busy boy with a lot of energy, and we just love his zest for life! He absolutely loves going to school everyday, and gets very good reports from his teachers Miss Erin & Miss Stacy.

How are you already 16 months old? Time flies becuase we are all having fun. :) Love you Big Boy.

Hola!!!

Father's Day + 2 Birthdays = Pool Party

We can pretty much use any excuse to have a pool party, but this time we had LOTS to celebrate! We had a fun day by the pool to celebrate the amazing Dads, my mom's birthday (last one in her 50's!), and Matt's big 3-1 birthday.

I don't know Grandpa... this water is pretty chilly!

Time to rehydrate with Mama's lemon water.  Riley always has to exhale and say "AH" after every drink.

So fun watching Uncle Johnny throw the basketball in the hoop! I try to do it, and with a little alley oop from Dada I can make the basket too!

Taking a swim with my turtle and Dada

Time to dry off and cuddle

I love swinging with my Aunty "lalalalala" (As Riley likes to call her)

Dog days of summer

We had yummy mexican food for dinner, and I brought the cupcakes... sinful!

Happy Father's Day to my Dad, Matt, and of course Jerry/Pop Pop!! And, happy 59th birthday to Mom & 31st to Matt! Love you all!

Kylie & Adam are Married!!

Two of our best friends from college, Kylie & Adam, recently tied the knot in Bermuda.  We were lucky enough to join in the festivities, and had a blast!  I was so honored that Kylie asked me to read a special poem that she picked out for Adam during the wedding ceremony, and we were both so excited to be able to witness their big day. Although we didn't have perfect weather everyday (but, a gorgeous wedding day, thank goodness!), it didn't matter because we were with some of our favorite people! Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Walker!!

Night #1 - we all had drinks and lots of laughs at the hotel bar! Cheers!

This cracked me up - the boys huddled on the couch

Thursday morning Matt woke up bright & early to golf with Adam and Justin. Such a gorgeous course!

Thursday night the parents of the bride & groom hosted a meet-and-greet happy hour in Hamilton. Here is a picture of me with my three roommates in college ... miss these girls!

The group took us out on a catamaran on Friday for a fun day at sea. We ate lunch, snorkeled, and enjoyed the beautiful blue water.

Friday night was a rehearsal dinner on the beach. The weather was very rainy, but we made the best of it and danced the night away in the rain! Such a fun memory!

Saturday, the wedding day, on the beach! Got a few hours of rays and it was FABULOUS!

I went over to the "Reefs" resort where the wedding was being held to get ready with the beautiful Bride & the moms.  Adam sent over a bottle of champagne with a note that he "cant wait to see his beautiful bride".  So sweet!

Cheers to the bride and groom!

Her amazing dress - this is their room for the honeymoon week - A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

Kylie brought out this place card, and explained that it was Adam's place card from our wedding 6 years ago. He had a crush on Kylie for awhile, but she always had a boyfriend. So, at our wedding he wrote his phone number on the inside of the place card and asked her out for dinner. She saved it all this time!

Reading the special poem "you feel like home to me" during the ceremony

Congrats you two!

Matt and I enjoying the cocktail hour at this beautiful resort!

With Ashley, my college friend and roomie! So fun seeing her!

As fun as it was, we missed our little man tremendously! He had a great time going to school everyday, and then coming home to play with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunty Lib, Uncle John, and Sophie. He sure was spoiled, but it will be a long time before we can bare being away from him again!

Random pictures from the last month...

Playing catch-up from the last month with a few fun pics the Weismann activities. Life has been busy, but we wouldn't want it any other way!

School has been super fun lately! Riley did a great job on "hat day" and represented the Hokies! He was the only toddler that left his hat on, he loves wearing a hat like "da da" (his favorite person in the entire world!)

They also have "splash day" every Tuesday.  They play in sprinklers, hose, and water tables outside. I snuck down to snap a few pictures.

One of Riley's favorite toys at school.. the new car. He beeps the horn and says "vroom" when he's driving.

We've also enjoyed some nice cool treats because it's heated up quickly down here in TX. They are messy for sure, but delicious.

Greek Yogurt Popsicle... mmmmm

Mustache

I gave Riley some pudding while I was making the pudding pops... it obviously ended up everywhere. Such a goof.

Other ways to cool down, have a little chair pool party outside...

Cool man shades are a must

You talkin' to me?!

Or, just strip down altogether

Speaking of stylish, how about a key chain necklace? (I know you're horrified, Mom!)

And, last but not least, Happy 6 year Anniversary to us! Thank you for the Roy's gift card Mom & Dad!
