Can you hear me now?

Riley has been battling a double ear infection since the first of December, and has been through countless rounds of antibiotics. So, Riley's pediatrician recently referred us to an AMAZING ENT that (after testing and observations) suggested we try a different route, ear tubes.  They certainly were not my first choice, but obviously we had to do something else! After meeting with the Audiologist at his office we found that Riley is not able to hear well at all due to the fluid in his ears, and this may be why he doesn't have the vocabulary of his friends and YELLS the few words he knows.  His equilibrium is also an issue, and we have constant accidents... and, not the typical toddler accidents.  In the last week he's had a black eye, goose egg on his head, and several bloody lips.

So, this morning we woke up bright and early and arrived at Baylor Hospital at 6:15AM.  Riley was a trooper since he wasn't able to eat or drink since the previous evening, and was not happy about missing his breakfast!

"We are ready!!!"

The surgery was literally ten minutes, and before we had time to get too terribly upset the doctor was out to talk to us. He said that he was able to drain the fluid, implant the tubes, and Riley will be a new kid this afternoon! We can tell that he can hear MUCH better, and has loved listening to himself talk today.  I am so happy that our sweet little guy doesn't have to suffer anymore, and we can say goodbye to ear infections!  It's going to be a whole new world for all of us, thank you God! :)

Already settled back in his playroom having a snack and reading a book after a very eventful day.
