Halloween Weekend

Halloween just wouldn't be the same without pumpkin carving, so we went to the pumpkin patch last weekend and bought three pumpkins (one for each of us!):

My pumpkin was rotten on the bottom and had "fuzz" growing in it, so that one went in the trash.  Matt carved the big pumpkin, and I carved the baby pumpkin.

Matt's owl... the trick or treaters were very impressed... they didn't say much about my pumpkin though... hmmmm...

Here's the baby pumpkin that I carved... R for Riley, or Rangers!
 Yummy.... pumpkin seeds!!

The house decorated for Halloween. I am sitting in the doorway with the pups passing our candy... I think we got about a thousand trick or treaters!!

My Very Own Handyman

Matt's been on a "projects" kick lately, and has been accomplishing a lot on the to-do list before Riley arrives.  One of the things he's been wanting to do is install new shelving in our family room where we used to have an armoire.

First, he bought wood and stained/shellacked it in our garage:

Working away...

I was so impressed with the finished product! Good job, Matt!!

Fun with neighbors!

We hosted a BBQ at our house on Saturday night with about 5 other neighborhood families. It was so fun to eat, drink (well, not me), and catch up with everyone!

Here's a picture of the spread before everyone came over. I meant to take pictures once the neighbors arrived, but I think that pregnancy amnesia is setting in.... !!!

A few "re-do's"...

My extremely handy husband (more posts to come in relation to that topic...) has been busy taping, painting away, and hanging light fixtures in Riley's room.  Unfortunately, we've had a few "redo's"...

1. He was sweet enough to do all of the paint shopping on his own, and bought trim paint that was "extreme" white.  After painting the trim, I broke the news that it didn't match the rest of the doors/trim upstairs, so we had to repaint. That became a team effort, and I think he agrees that it looks MUCH better now!

2. I ordered a baby chandalier from overstock.com.  I am usually very happy with my Overstock purchases, but this time the chandalier did NOT match the product description at all!  Once Matt got it hung, wired, and lit... we agreed that it was too "girly" for our little boy due to the excessive crystals.  He happily took down the old chandalier and hooked up the new one (picture above).  He even installed a dimmer ... (Jerry Junior?), and it gives the room the perfect touch. :)

Riley's future BFF

The Rachavong's came over on Saturday night, and we got to spend lots of quality time with sweet little Sawyer.  He is 6 weeks old, and just as cute as can be.  We can't wait until Riley and Sawyer are able to play together, which will give us a great excuse to see our good friends Hayley and Adam more often!

Peace ;)

More construction at the Weismann house...

I thought I'd share a few pictures of our current pride and joy.... until Riley gets here... our new fence! We've been wanting to redo our fence for years. Our old fence was so short that we felt like we were constantly on display for the neighbors!  This new fence provides plenty of privacy for Saturday morning coffee on the back patio in our bathboes (I'm sure this routine will change in a few months... :) ), and we even extended the side yard for the pups.
