Duck, NC ~ Beach trip (Part 1)

I am finally getting around to posting about our AMAZING week in the Outer Banks.  First of all, thank you to GiGi and Grandpa for a wonderful vacation! We decided to go Labor Day week, and it was a great decision! The weather was beautiful EVERY SINGLE DAY, and we were just past "peak" season and missed the big crowds.  The coolest part of the trip was staying in our old beach house. It felt just like home.  We missed Uncle Johnny because he had to work, and hope he can make it next time!

On August 31st we were OFF! The kids were thrilled, and I think I was anticipating a long trip with little kids :)

Both kids were really well behaved on the flight. Riley looks like a traveling pro!

We made it to NC just in time to stop at Grandy's, our favorite fruit market.  The best thing about Grandy's is their yogurt mixed with fresh fruit. Riley chose peach yogurt with bananas, mmm!

Sami got her first taste of Grandy's yogurt and couldn't get enough.

Our friends, the Wollacks, were just wrapping up their beach vacation so we were able to see them the first two nights. They were nice enough to get groceries for us... most importantly, WINE! This made Grandpa very happy!

The first morning was bright and beautiful. We drank our coffee on the patio each morning and looked at the sea.

Sami loved her first day on the beach. She dug in the sand and had a ball.

We pretty much played musical pool/beach all week. Back and forth! We got our exercise!

Dad looks like a Baywatch lifeguard in the background

The kids got cleaned up and decided to snuggle with LaLa on the couch

Obviously, the book reading session was a success...

After a fun night of BBQ and laughter with the Wollacks, they hit the road for Detroit bright and early and we hit the beach!

...and then the pool...

...and then the beach again...

Another successful beach day, and we were rewarded with a beautiful evening on the porch with wine and sweet baby kisses!

I love Sami's patio "chair" in this one!

Stay tuned for Part 2!!!
