The Weismann Family: Michigan Trip ~ August 2015

When the decision was made to sell our home, we decided that there wouldn't be a better time to list it than when I headed north to Michigan with my parents and the kids. Matt's task was to sell the the house by the time we returned so that we didn't have to juggle 2 kids and a dog with house showings. He did as he was told, and it sold the first weekend we were gone. In the meantime, we enjoyed 8 days in Michigan with family.

We started the morning with a hearty breakfast picnic at our gate. Yum!

These kiddos were troopers. It was a 12 hour travel day, but they hung in there!

This position was just too priceless not to capture on camera.

First, we headed to Lansing to see the Quincey side of the family. After a long day of travel, the kids rallied and had a blast with the entire fam at a fun Spartan restaurant. They especially loved goofing around with my Uncle Art, and quickly warmed up to the rest of my Aunts & Uncles. Uncle Art would call "yoooo hoooo" and Sami would race over and give him a kiss. He is now permanently named "Yoo Hoo", and they have a very special bond.

My Aunt Mary and Sami did lots of cuddling. She is going to be a grandma in the Spring, and is already a pro!

After a delicious dinner, we headed back to the Hampton Inn. The kids loved snuggling in bed together.

However, one of the things Riley looked forward to the most was the continental breakfast. His baby sister agreed, it was quite the treat each morning.

He remembered the Hampton Inn continental breakfast from years past, and was not disappointed. It's funny to think about the things that stick in these kids brains for years on end!

After the continental breakfast, we headed to my Aunt Susie and Uncle Jim's house for lunch. It was a gorgeous day, and we sat outside under the big trees, ate the delicious chicken salad lunch that my aunts had prepared, and visited with each other. The kids loved racing around their big open backyard and swinging on the tree swing!

After lunch, we headed back to Aunt Patty & Uncle Art's house. They also have a huge backyard, and we couldn't pass up a chance to let the kids run in the sprinklers. They ran and ran and ran until they couldn't run any longer.

Little sister didn't quite run as much, but she loved getting sprayed by the hose.

Peek A Boo - I see you!

We had breakfast in the park the following morning. My dad and his 5 sisters had a tradition of eating breakfast in that same park when they were kids, so it was fun to go back and do it again. My Aunt Mary literally made the BEST breakfast tacos I've ever had. They also had just built an incredible play structure, and the kids couldn't get enough play time.

We went back to Aunt Patty and Uncle Art's house, and my childhood friend Nicole & her son Evan met us there for the afternoon.

Sami was ready for some more sprinkler action when we got back to the house.

Evan brought a really cool bubble maker, and Aunt Patty had lots of bubble making tools.

However, pretty soon the kids soon broke out the hose. Who needs a swim suit when you have undies?

After working up an appetite, the boys "cooled down" with Aunt Patty's home made ice cream sandwiches

They were to die for... Sami agrees!

We really were spoiled in Lansing with good food and hospitality. We truly are so blessed to have such an incredible family!

Monday morning we made the 4 hour trip north to Northport for the Daly Family Reunion and to celebrate Grandma Daly's 85th birthday. We stayed at the Northport Bay Retreat with 45 of our family members, and enjoyed catching up with aunts, uncles, cousins, and of course Grandma. Riley and Sami couldn't wait to play with my cousin's kids, Beni and Rino!
