We had Riley's 2 year checkup in February, and his finger-prick anemia test showed that his iron was slightly low. They prescribed an iron supplement, and told us to come back in three months for a recheck. Without going into too much detail, the iron supplements resulted in lots of prunes, prune juice, and Fiber One for the poor kid... so, we finally decided that he was borderline anyway and we'd just stop giving it to him. The three month checkup showed low iron AGAIN... so, we had to go to children's hospital to get lab work done. He was SUCH a brave boy during the ordeal, and they took a LOT of blood. We luckily had GiGi there for moral support.... for both of us! This experience really made me sympathize for families with sick children who have to undergo this sort of poking and prodding on an ongoing basis. Good news, his results all came back in normal ranges!! Hallelujah!!
Getting ready...
Not sure who was more nervous...
Such a brave dude
We took him right over for frozen yogurt after his lab work!
GiGi and I enjoyed some yogurt too!
He got every last drop!
